Scrap Cars Not Kids is a registered charitable organization (83908 7541 RR000) with its home base in Abbotsford, BC. We were founded in 2012 by Just Right Recycling Ltd. to raise awareness about the exploitation of kids and related issues.
Scrap Cars Not Kids raises funds in the Fraser Valley and Vancouver Lower Mainland through the donation of old cars and other household and industrial ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal. We also receive financial donations.
The money we raise through donations funds the work of registered charities and nonprofit organizations that work to fight child exploitation, locally and worldwide.
The exploitation of children is an international problem that exists in Canada and North America, not just overseas. Child exploitation issues include homelessness, human trafficking, poverty and sex trafficking of kids.
About Our Founders
Chris Wiens and his wife Jane became acutely aware of child exploitation through the work of their close friend and business partner Brian Falls.
Together Chris and Brian founded the social enterprise Just Right Recycling and donate the operational surplus to charities.
The charitable giving of Just Right Recycling goes primarily to Scrap Cars Not Kids, to support organizations that fight the exploitation of children.
Brian Falls, his wife Sherri and their children, lived in Thailand for 3 1/2 years. They came back with a passion to be change agents against the exploitation of children they witnessed in that region. The Falls served as administrators and dorm parents in the first year of an orphanage established for children with either HIV or AIDS. They adopted a son while in Thailand, before returning to Canada.
